さて、今日の単語は ouch 。
宝石がちりばめられたブローチやバックルのことです。
ouche とも綴られるようです。

この語はもともと a nouche だったものが an ouche と間違えられたもの。
これは brooch の意味のアングロノルマン語 ouche から。
さらにこの語源は、to bind の意味のインドーヨーロッパ語族の語根 ned- です。

ouch と言っても、あの「アウチ」とは関係無さそうです。
